Meet Pippin – an easy presence, always nearby
This mug features a carved portrait of Pippin — a calm, steady retriever with a relaxed expression and quiet confidence. There’s a softness in her eyes and a stillness in the pose -neither eager nor withdrawn, just content to be.
The blush pink glaze band wraps around the base - warm, familiar, and gently grounding.
Thrown on the wheel and finished by hand in my studio in Virginia, Co. Cavan, the Pippin Mug is designed for everyday use. Balanced, comforting, and easy to reach for — like the dog she’s modelled after.
Studio Note
Pippin is a retriever I once met - the kind of dog who doesn’t chase attention, but somehow holds the room. She carried herself with quiet ease, as if she’d already figured out what mattered and didn’t need reminding.
There’s no fuss here. Just calm weight, an easy posture, and a quiet sort of wisdom. I tried to capture that — in the line of her shoulder, the lift of her gaze, the absence of urgency.
Not a portrait, but a suggestion. A way to hold something steady, just for a moment.

Care & Handling
These mugs are dishwasher safe, though hand washing is always gentler on handmade ceramics.
Microwave use is not recommended.
Each piece is glazed with a food-safe, non-toxic clear gloss.
To preserve the integrity of the clay and glaze, avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g. from fridge to boiling water). A little care goes a long way.

Studio Context
Each piece is made slowly, by hand, in small batches from a quiet studio in Virginia, Co. Cavan.
The aesthetic — Handcrafted Modern Play — leans on clean form and gentle character: calm expressions, earthy tones, and lines that feel alive rather than perfect.
Some batches feature several designs. Others, just one. It depends on the clay, the day, and whatever’s hanging around in my head.
